2. What are the key updates in the major firmware versions for the E530? (PT/EC)

V1.4.x.x:

  1. Started to unify the version numbers with the 1st and 2nd digits covering E530-PT 220 V, E530-EC 220 V and E530-EC 400 V.
  2. Changed and improved the inertia identification accuracy and auto tuning process significantly together with function pages in Servo Composer.

V1.5.x.x:

  1. Supported new 220 V DSM motors (DSMxxx-…-xxxx1).
  2. Improved key functions, including: touch probe, infinite rotary mode, etc.

3. How to upgrade the E530 firmware? (PT/EC)
  1. E530 firmware can be upgraded by Servo Composer with released firmware files.
  2. Until V1.5.x.x, all previous firmware versions can be upgraded to V1.5.x.x directly without any limitation.
  3. Notice:
    • After finished the firmware upgrade, power cycle is needed for effective.
    • When power on again, F0100, F0101 could happen due to parameters changing, then DEFAULT (AF003) is needed to clear these faults and power cycle for effective.
    • In order to synchronize the parameter data to commissioning tool, Servo Composer is strongly suggested to restart too.
  4. More details regarding E530 firmware upgrade can refer to technical note “ TN004 - Upgrade the E530 firmware via the Servo Composer”.

4. What is the correspondence between the E530 firmware, software, and XML files? (PT/EC)

5. Why does the E530 trigger encoder-mismatch alarms F2002, F0104, and F4000? (PT/EC)
  1. For 220 V motors, 20 bits and 23 bits encoder both options can be offered to customers, which need to manually select by P01.07.
    • P01.07 = 0: 20 bits encoder
    • P01.07 = 1: 23 bits encoder
  2. For E530-PT V1.5 and before, the default value of P01.07 is 0, plans to change to 1 since V1.6.
  3. For E530-EC V1.4 and before, the default value of P01.07 is 0, changed to 1 since V1.5.
  4. If the actual motor encoder is not match the value of P01.07, then F2002, F0104, F4000 will be occurred, then P01.07 need to change and power cycle for effective.

6. Why does the E530 trigger the motor-mismatch alarm F9004? (PT/EC)
  1. When support new 220 V DSM motors with old firmware (before V1.5),F9004 will happen.
  2. The reason is the incompatibility of new motors and old firmware, so users need to upgrade the firmware to V1.5 to fix it.

7. How to clear the F2010 alarm that appears when a multi-turn encoder is powered on for the first time? (PT/EC)
  1. For multi-turn absolute encoder (T0,S2), when connecting the encoder cable with battery to motor at the first time, the drive will occur F2010 fault.
  2. Since V1.5 firmware version, AF012 can used to initialize the absolute encoder by clearing F2010 fault and multi-turn data, but please noted that power cycle is needed for effective.

8. How to change the motor rotation direction? (PT/EC)
  1. In order to easily change the motor rotate direction for specific application, E530 drives support to change it by parameters.
  2. For E530-PT drives, P01.01 can be used to set the motor rotate direction.
  3. For E530-EC drives, EtherCAT object 607Eh can be used to set the motor rotate direction for V1.4 and before versions, and have changed to P01.01 in V1.5.

9. Is an external 24 V power supply mandatory for the E530 drive? (PT/EC)
  1. For E530-EC 400 V drives, the external 24 VDC is a MUST for the control power with addition to 380 V ~ 480 V main power.
  2. For E530-PT/E530-EC 220 V drives, the control power comes from DC bus, so NO additional external power supply is needed.

10. Does the E530 servo drive support infinite rotary mode? (EC)
  1. E530-EC supports infinite rotary mode function based on drive and controller solutions both.
  2. For E530-EC 220 V drives, both solutions are supported since V1.4.
  3. For E530-EC 400V drives:
    • Based on controller solution is supported since V1.4.
    • Based on drive solution can be supported since V1.5 with new 400 V hardware versions (1.5/2 kW version B and later, 4 kW version C and later, 5/7.5 kW version B and later).

11. Dose the E530 servo drive support touch probe function? (PT/EC)
  1. E530-EC supports touch probe function with 2 fast digital input (DI5/DI6) or Z pulse to trigger.
  2. It is strongly suggested to use this function with firmware versions of V1.5 and later.

12. How can gain tuning for the E530 be performed via Servo Composer? (PT/EC)
Refer to the method in AN300 "Application Note - Tuning a E530 Servo Drive via the Servo Composer" to realize the parameter tuning for the drive and motor to reach the best possible performance.

13. How can I obtain the Getting Started Guide for the E530-PT? (PT)

14. How can Modbus TCP communication between the E530-PT and a CP600 HMI be implemented? (PT)

15. How to use the RECOVERY (system restore) function on the E530 drive? (EC)
  1. When the drive failed to power on (no display on panel) after firmware upgrade, users can recover the system by REVOVERY function. Now this function is available for E530-EC variant.
  2. Operation process:
    • Power on the drive when the M and OK buttons are pressed, and release the buttons after the characters appear on the drive panel for 3 seconds.
    • Upgrade the firmware again.
