Swiss notification requirements

Under the SIX Swiss Exchange Act we disclose shareholders that reach, exceed or fall below the thresholds of 3%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 33.33%, 50% or 66.66% of the voting rights.

An additional disclosure requirement exists under the Swiss Federal Code of Obligations to disclose shareholders and their shareholdings if they hold more than 3% of all voting rights. This must be made once a year in the annual report.

ABB has three major shareholders holding three percent or more of the share capital and voting rights

Investor AB, Sweden, disclosed that as per October 17, 2017 it held 232,165,142 ABB Ltd shares. This holding represents approximately 10.71 percent of ABB Ltd's total share capital and voting rights as registered in the Commercial Register.
 

Cevian Capital II GP Limited, Channel Islands

Cevian Capital II GP Limited, Channel Islands, disclosed that as per September 8, 2017, on behalf of its general partners, it held 115,868,333 ABB Ltd shares. This holding represents approximately 5.34 percent of total ABB Ltd's share capital and voting rights as registered in the Commercial Register.

BlackRock Inc., U.S.A.

BlackRock, Inc., USA, disclosed that as per August 31, 2017, it, together with its direct and indirect subsidiaries, held 72,900,737 ABB Ltd shares. This holding represents approximately 3.36 percent of ABB Ltd's total share capital and voting rights as registered in the Commercial Register.
To the best of ABB's knowledge, no other shareholder holds 3 percent or more of the total voting rights of ABB Ltd.
