As a systems engineer/scientist and as a member of a multidisciplinary project team, and by collaborating with other specialists, you will guide the design of analyzers and remote sensors for process analysis, defense and security and aerospace missions.

Tasks:

Mainly, you will have to:
– interact directly with the project manager and clients to fully understand their respective needs
– guide the team in the development of cutting edge products
– act as the technical point of contact for the client
– maintain a trust relationship with the client throughout the various project phases
– be in charge of system conformity and technical risk management
– iterate on the requirements with the client
– set and manage system and subsystem requirements
– capture and manage system requirements for projects with various levels of complexity
– be in charge of system design and development
– model systems
– monitor system performance
– establish technical budgets and margins
– regularly make presentations, in French as well as in English, to clients and members of the technical team during design reviews and other project milestones
– collaborate with the Test and Integration team in defining and developing test plans as well as verification and validation strategies
– ensure technical coordination of the team with other departments
– hold weekly project meetings with the technical team
– follow up on technical actions and plan short-term schedules
– assist the project manager in strategic and execution planning, as well as project costs follow-up
– establish the level of effort required to meet goals and ensure that these established levels of effort are adhered to
– ensure that intellectual property rules are followed, and act accordingly
– guide the technical team and develop systems engineering and Model-based Systems Engineering tools
– act as a leader in continuous improvement activities
– travel on occasion to visit clients or other ABB offices (in the US and abroad)

Experience and Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or the equivalent
– Background in infrared optical instrumentation development
– At least 5 years’ experience as a system leader on projects involving:
- flow of requirements from system to component levels,
- development of control systems,
- development of electro-optic systems, subsystems and ancillary equipment.
– Good knowledge of INCOSE, CMMI, MIL-STD, ISO and other standards
– Master the following tools: Magic Draw (Model-based Systems Engineering), Windchill (product and documentation trees, management, BOM), Primavera Client (schedules and short-term task management), SAP (order management, etc.), Office suite
– Experience in Matlab programming

The candidate must have, or plans on obtaining a Level 2 Security Clearance from the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
