The Communications Specialist manages strategic internal and external communications activities in Canada. He/she creates clear, measurable and compelling communication strategies, structures and programs that help ABB align, motivate, engage, and retain employees at all levels whilst promoting a positive public image and controlling the dissemination of information on our company’s behalf. Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills make a strong communications specialist. Experience in corporate communications and project management are important qualities too. Enthusiasm and positive attitude are essential for the role, helping you gain the trust of colleagues and external parties alike.

Tasks:

- Create and execute effective corporate communication strategies that drive business results
- Manage internal communications memos / newsletters / campaigns
- Support large change-management communication plans in Canada
- Partner with corporate functions to assist with functional communications across the country
- Create engaging content: Produce news articles, posts, blogs, email notes and videos for various communications channels
- Facilitate video productions
- Develop simple and effecting measurement program for basic communication metrics (readership, understanding, change management, etc.)
- Assist with improving communication channels across Canada.
- Manage intranet communications and postings for internal Web channels in Canada
- Provide logistical and communication support for events
- Manage communication and design agencies to produce deliverables on time and on budget

Requirements:

- BA/BS Communications, Journalism, or related field
- 4+ years of experience working in Corporate Communications or related fields
- Perfectly bilingual in English and French
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Proven track record of producing creative and strategic communications
- Strong creative and strategic content creation skills (articles, blogs, videos, infographics, speeches, events, etc.)
- Ability to edit written and visual communications from various sources
- Strong video production and editing skills
- Understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS) and proven web management and maintenance skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and open to change
- Self-starter, highly organized, detail-oriented
- Proficient in Associated Press (AP) Style
- Fluent in the use of MS Office and Adobe suite especially: Adobe Premier, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Strong project management skills and ability to own large-scale projects from start to finish
- Strong capability for independent direction and decision-making
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate across various corporate cultures
- Ability to function successfully within ambiguity and complexity
- Ability to build new communication programs and plans from idea to execution
- Ability to create and build relationships across geographic and cultural boundaries
- Ability to share vision and motivate large groups of people
- Ability to capture and communicate the voice of leaders
- Intermediate graphic design skills – uses branding guidelines to create a variety of corporate materials, including images, infographics, printed pieces, etc.
- Strong social media skills
- Experience working in a matrix organization
- Corporate video production and editing experience
- Digital signage content experience
- Experience managing communication and design agencies
- Experience with communication measurement
