Technical Sales Manager – Drive Systems

Tasks:

The TSM’s key RESPONSABILITIES include:
• Grow ABB Drive systems installed base in targeted industries (Pulp & Paper, Mining, etc).
• Responsible for technical and commercial content of Drive Systems offers. Review and analyze customer specifications. Utilize engineering data, drawings, customer specifications and related information to prepare cost estimates, requests for quotations for purchase of components, evaluate supplier quotations and summarize total cost estimates.
• Personal participation and support for the proposal team in designing a winning solution and ensuring accurate cost calculation.
• Active personal participation & leadership to generate best in class face to face customer interface and industry event engagements. Deliver high quality presentations at customer meetings & at trade shows. Prepare white papers & deliver workshops. Able to develop, maintain and present Hoisting demo.
• Target competitive system replacements. Must understand competitive solutions to help position ABB.
• Exceed orders received (OR) & gross margin budget.
• Support field sales (system and service account managers) with customer discussions, technical and marketing information.
• Bring new offerings and applications for local market in collaboration with the ABB global PGs, HUBs, LBUs, COEs, Engineering and R&D teams. Stay updated on new features, marketing updates and their applications to the North American markets. Ensure that new technology and application releases with in industry segment are incorporated.
• Work with all local stakeholders in the Industrial Automation team (Market Segments, Proposals, Operations & Customer Service).
• Actions to improve customer satisfaction (NPS) include issue identification, setting resolution expectation, CCRP usage & follow-up for timely resolution.

Requirements:

Specific Qualifications:

• University or College degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical).
 Alternatively, a person who demonstrates a special combination of experience and/or skill sets and/or accomplishments may be considered to a modified role in this position.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial projects environment (with preference for pulp and paper, mining) with hands-on knowledge of Electrical Power train and Mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of Paper Machine systems will be considered an asset
• Understand the production processes, operational/business challenges and customer buying behavior.
• Experience in preparing tenders, making presentations and interacting with internal and external customer organizations.
• Simultaneously process information on multiple and varied projects, and respond effectively to changes in priorities.
• Bilingual in French and English; knowledge of Spanish is an asset
• Strong technical communication and presentation skills both verbal and in writing
• Project execution experiences is an asset.
• Location is Montreal, (Toronto or Sudbury) must be open to travel as required (expect 30-50% of the time)
• Professional memberships: TBD Professional engineering memberships (OIQ, PEO…)
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

• Seek out new and innovative ways of approaching situations and tasks.
• Takes initiative and acts with confidence.
