As a Principal Technical Consultant, you will be a part of Power Grid Division which brings together ABB's complete power & automation offering for transmission and distribution delivered from a single source: power & automation for the grid. Power Grids offers power and automation products, systems and service solutions across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain. Its offering - covered by the five business units below - includes grid automation and integration solutions, power transmission systems, high-voltage products and transformers.

Tasks:

As a Principal Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for following activities:

1. Technical contribution
Oversee or deliver major assignments within& outside. Approve assignment tasks carried out by others. Recognized internally and externally as an expert in chosen field and responsible for defining best practice. Take a lead role to align all of the consulting services to meet the customer's needs. Takes customer feedbacks on deliverables to identify areas of improvements.
2. Customer and sales
Make contacts at senior level (e.g. Technical Director), gain entry to client organizations and develop long term relationships with key clients. Coach clients to articulate opportunities and develop solutions, bringing leading edge technologies and processes to deliver customer benefit. Maintain awareness of consulting and business area target sectors and current and future needs of existing and new customers. Negotiate contracts which meet customer objectives and business targets and which win work at target fee rates for self and team. Actively involved in Business Development activities.
3. Contract management
Accountable for contract performance for work in own area of responsibility managing assignment team fee rate and utilization to deliver the agreed contribution. May also be a contract manager accountable for invoicing, work in progress, efficient collection etc.
4. Planning and control
Create work plans and cost estimates for work of the assignment teams and proactively manages this work to deliver the assignments on time, on quality and at financial targets (income and margin), which create high business values.
5. Risk and opportunity management
Establish a risk management strategy for the consulting assignments and ensures actions taken to mitigate and control risks. Report early any quality/program/cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution. Identify opportunities for repeat and new business for own business area and the wider ABB.
6. Technical leadership and knowledge sharing
Coach and develop consultants within the team and provides a role model for technical leadership. Develop beneficial relationships with external organizations e.g. professional bodies to establish best practice, and enhance personal reputation and credibility for the benefit of ABB.
7. Processes and tools
Lead creation of new processes and tools in the business to enhance quality & productivity.
8. People leadership and development
Form and lead teams to deliver assignments with a focus on operational execution. Also acts in way to keep team motivation high. Sets developmental targets for team in line with business needs & continuously monitors progess. Takes feedback from the team & tries to find areas of improvement.
9. Finance and budget
Achieve an agreed financial contribution to the business for a technology, business area or consulting team, in terms of orders, revenue & collection.

Requirements:

Candidates holding M.E/M.Tech/MS degree in Power and Energy Systems with 12 to 15 years of experience will be an ideal fit for this position. We are looking for someone with experience in working for Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Industrial utilities. Candidate should be technically competent, good in communication, good software competency preferred (PSS/E, DIgSILENT, ETAP, NEPLAN, PSCAD), good analytical skills and have a zeal to grow a professional carrier in Power Consulting. Interested candidates having a relevant work experience in the field of Asset Management, Energy efficiency, Energy Economics & Regulations, HVDC & FACTS studies are also invited to apply. Knowhow of foreign language will be preferred.
