Reduced maintenance with the new ABB XLF LED floodlight for hazardous areas

2016-02-10 - Continuously striving to raise specifications and provide customers with an ever superior product, our latest offering, the new XLF LED floodlight, elevates the standard.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, with its leading brand DTS for explosion proof lighting and cabinets, now launches the new XLF LED floodlight, complementing its existing LED lighting range, which comprises linear fitting ranges – EVNL, EVDL and EVTL, and tubular fitting range – XFFL and beacon range – XFB. The new floodlight is available in both wide and narrow beam versions.

The new XLF LED floodlight delivers 7,800 lumens of visible light from either the narrow or wide beam and has an extended life span (50,000 hours), which significantly reduces maintenance. Compared to Sodium lamps, the new XLF LED will result in 5 times fewer lamp replacements during its total life cycle. The floodlight has a strong, durable marine-grade aluminum alloy body and toughened borosilicate glass for use in harsh environments.

Equipped with a set of LED modules with an integrated diffuser, the XLF generates significantly more visible light with improved photometric data than existing Sodium solutions. Cost effective operation at 73 lumen/watt and a superior illumination, the new XLF floodlight is definitely a great alternative to other sources and innovates within the ATEX Offshore/ Harsh Environment, with a higher lighting performance and major energy saving. Switching to LED saves up to 50% energy on costs on lighting compared to conventional fluorescent lighting.

Reliability and safety are the cornerstones of ABB LED lighting for hazardous areas. This is why the XLF LED floodlight combines instant startup illumination and restrike, allowing immediate ignition, with optimum performance both indoors and outdoors. Like all ABB LED lighting, the XLF is specifically designed for use in potentially dusty or gaseous atmospheres and it complies with ATEX, IECEx, EAC, INMETRO and PCEC international standards, as well as the European Zone categories 1, 2, 21 and 22. Its Offshore dedicated paint and internal corrosion protection makes it ideally suited to Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Oil & Gas applications.
