EVENTS

Welcome to Elfack 2015

Between May 5 and 8, 2015 customers and stakeholders from the energy industry will gather again at Elfack 2015 in Gothenburg.

At the event ABB will show that ABB's solutions are already today a natural part of a sustainable society. We will present the news from energy efficiency and productivity, service, production of renewable energy and energy transmission and distribution.

Embedded technologies – Energizing the digital grid

ABB’s portfolio of protection, control and communication systems is constantly updated to incorporate the latest developments for substation- and power grid automation. Our approach to product development and innovation ensures that customers can update existing systems with new technologies, as and when they’re needed to improve the safety and reliability of existing installations today.

Our booth at Elfack 2015 shows new substation automation products that extend our portfolio for secure and reliable grid automation.

Built on the international standard for substation automation, IEC 61850 9-2, ABB’s solutions bring significant advantages in terms of interoperability and ease of configuration, as well as addressing the security requirements of multi-access substation automation systems. They represent another step toward fully digital substations and underline ABB’s position at the forefront of substation automation and communication technologies.

Part of ABB’s established Relion family of protection and control devices, the Relion 670 series 2.0 provides faster performance with improved accuracy that it predecessors. In addition to its unique monitoring functions for protection and control in transmission systems, the product has been certified by independent laboratories and is fully compliant with both editions of the IEC 61850 standard.

ABB's RTU500 series also provides a comprehensive switch portfolio in the field of Ethernet communication, which enables customers to mix different types of media like fiber optic and two-wire copper cables (SHDSL) in one network. The RTU520, joins the RTU500 family of network monitoring and control devices and is compact, cost-efficient and scalable solution for monitoring and control.

The SDM600, a system data management software solution, helps to see the unseen from a new perspective. Using IEC 61850 interfaces the SDM600 software keeps a watchful eye on protection relays so the user can ensure they’re all running the latest software, and to the greatest effect.

FOX615, a universal multiplexer for utility networks, provides a combination of traditional TDM (PDH/ SDH) technology and sophisticated Ethernet/IP features to meet a broad range of requirements. It can be integrated easily into existing infrastructure in improvement and extension projects, enabling step-wise migration, while protecting investments.

The SAM600 merging unit is an enabler for digital substations, bridging analog and digital technologies. It allows stepwise upgrades toward full-system digitization with minimal disruption to substation operations. As electrical signals are digitized at source, risks associated with service and maintenance activities are significantly reduced and operational safety is improved. A video summarizing the benefits of SAM600 can be found here.

We enable you to see the network and its components in a new light. Our MicroSCADA Pro manages and monitors that network; presenting operators with real-time geographical representation of the power distribution network and reducing outage time with efficient fault location and automatic restoration. We also track protection relay software versions, collate disturbance reports, and help secure the network against cyber-attacks.
