Turbocharger service workshop upgrade in Pakistan
Coinciding with the commemoration of 20 successful years of operations in Pakistan, the ABB Team celebrated the inauguration of its newly upgraded Lahore turbocharger workshop in Pakistan. The workshop inauguration which was performed by Najeeb Ahmed, Country Managing Director of ABB in Pakistan, Edi Fior, Area Manager AMEA and Syed Faisal, Business Unit Manager ABB Turbocharging Pakistan, welcomed more than 75 attendees from various leading companies, including Wärtsilä, Caterpillar, General Electric, Kohinoor Energy limited, Sapphire Group, Nishat Group, Descon Power and significant customers from the power sector.
The upgrade features an extension of the workshop and office spaces with special emphasis on health & safety in line with international standards and ABB’s ongoing commitment to health and safety across the company under the “Don’t Look the Other Way” culture which has been lived by this team in Pakistan for the past twenty years already.
In addition, the workshop equipment was upgraded and the workflow arrangement was significantly improved, enabling ABB to increase its turbocharger service capacity by 15 to 20 percent. Today, there are on average 750-800 repair jobs, covering about 600-650 turbochargers per year. As well as accommodating additional service repair jobs to support the growing turbocharger install base in the country, the upgraded workshop will also provide a safe and controlled environment for service jobs.
