History of ABB in Bulgaria

ABB has been present on the Bulgarian market through ASEA and respectively BROWN BOVERI companies since the early twenties of the 20th century.
2020

ABB divested its core Power Grids business to Hitachi. The new joint venture operates under the name Hitachi ABB Power Grids

2019

ABB opened its newest production unit for low and medium voltage products in Petrich. This greenfield investment is the fifth ABB factory in the country.

2014

ABB inaugurated its new production unit for low and medium voltage products. This is the fourth ABB factory in the country.

2013

ABB in Bulgaria merged all its corporate units into а single company - ABB Bulgaria EOOD. ABB will now operate in Bulgaria through one company with the Head office in Sofia, having offices and branches in five locations.

2012

Groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of the construction work for the second factory in Rakovski. The new investment will become the forth production unit of ABB in Bulgaria.

2010

ABB opened Turbochargers service station in Varna for combustion engines over 500 kW.

2009

The construction process of the factory is completed and production activities starts right after that.

2008

ABB starts the construction of its third production unit in Bulgaria - ABB Automation EOOD, which represents a $ 20 million Greenfield investment in region of Rakovski.

2007

ABB Avangard becomes ABB focused factory for disconnectors and production is increased to 1500-1600 units per year. The company employs 143 people

2007

ABB Bulgaria EOOD opens new sales office in Varna

2005

ABB Control EOOD is merged into ABB Bulgaria EOOD

2000

ABB Avangard AD produced disconnectors 12kV-550kV under ABB license agreement; 800-900 units annually.

ASEA Brown Boveri EOOD changed its name to ABB Bulgaria EOOD

1996

Sevlievo plant Avangard is privatized by ABB, taking the name ABB Avangard AD.

ABB Control EOOD in Petrich is already operational as production company for construction and sale of electronic equipment.

ABB representative office was established in Bulgaria.
