Career paths and development
There are three main career paths in Marketing and Sales. As your competencies and interests evolve, you can switch among them.
On the entry-level you provide functional and technical support throughout the sales process, ensuring that internal and external customers have sufficient product and solution knowledge.
Depending on your preferences and skills, you may move even closer to the customer and be responsible for a specific segment or geographical area. Or you can choose to further develop your commercial and technical skills, specializing in bids and proposals or contracts before moving into a management role.
Starting your career in sales, you first build up your product and market knowledge, regularly visiting customers and developing relationships to achieve your sales targets.
As an account manager, you focus on growth, profitability and customer satisfaction to develop one or more strategic accounts over the long term, coordinating sales efforts of the business unit and troubleshooting customer problems.
Sales managers are responsible for business planning as well as leading and developing their teams to drive profitable growth and maximize cooperation among our businesses.
When starting in Marketing, you gather and analyze competitive intelligence, identifying gaps or opportunities for growth for new and existing products and services.
As you develop your skills and experience, a number of options are available: You can move into Business Development, into a product manager role that allows you to manage the full life cycle of your product range, or you can focus on Marketing Communications, working with our external partners to manage campaigns.
