Access to electricity
About one in six people on the planet live without access to electricity. As part of its response, ABB is involved in several off-grid rural electrification projects under an initiative called “Access to Electricity” which focuses on bringing power to remote communities.
ABB works with partners such as other companies, governments, non-governmental organizations and aid agencies to promote sustainable development in rural and semi-urbanized areas of Africa and Asia. The “Access to Electricity” program was launched in response to the UN Global Compact’s call on major companies to do more to ease the problems of least developed countries.
