ABB's new generation 145 kV (kilovolt) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is playing a key role in enhancing the power reliability in Xiamen Torch high-tech industrial development zone.
Xiamen Torch hi-tech industrial development zone
is the main engine driving the economic growth of in the suburban area of Xiamen City and is an important base of high-tech innovation, industrialization, exports and business incubation. More than 1,400 enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies together with ABB are located in the development zone.
ABB has supplied and installed the latest generation of GIS type ELK-04 C, 145 kV in Xiang’an Torch substation which will provide these companies with reliable power supply and enhance the stability of the power grid in Xiang’an District.
The new generation GIS compact design results in a small substation footprint compared to air-insulated switchgear. Its eco-efficient design with 60 percent less SF6
insulating gas reduces environmental impact compared with predecessor product.
Its modular design provides excellent accessibility and convenient operations. The supplied GIS type ELK-04 C was factory assembled, tested, and shipped as one bay, hence provided a substantial reduction in installation and commissioning time.
