You as a Sales Engineer - Power & Water Automation will be a part of the Industrial Automation (IA) division and will be based in Dubai, UAE. The Industrial Automation (IA) division delivers integrated solutions for control, plant optimization, and industry-specific application knowledge and services to help process industry customers worldwide to meet their critical business needs in the areas of operational profitability, capital productivity, risk management and global responsibility. You will ensure profitability, volume target achievement and growth in the field automation projects for Power and Water with Key Focus towards the End Users for Retrofit, Rip & Replace Projects and Automaton Solutions for Power Generation & Water. Your focus will be on internal and external customer relationship management, market analysis, bid strategy, bid risk analysis and commercial negotiations. Your aim should be to achieve both qualitative and quantitative targets for automation systems in a profitable way. You will cover the market and sales with special focus on Greenfield, Retrofit Automation Business and to exceed the sales targets through high performance in order to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Your responsibilities

•Sales Strategy Support the implementation of sales strategy in alignment with local market.in particular the Targets set by the BU for Middle East region for the Market

•Sales Objectives Establishes sales targets and ensures sales achievement through regular oversight and definition and implementation of improvement plans as needed.

•Customer Acquisition Identifies opportunities at existing and potential new customers within defined geographical area, and determines plans for acquisition.

•Information Sharing Coordinates the flow of information for sales activities and transactions, including leads, billings, orders, contracts, etc. and evaluates data to ensure area goal achievement.

•Customer Relations Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers. Ensures efficient marketing communications and communicates the value proposition of the offer to current and potential customers. Negotiates with customers to finalize sales contracts.

•Volume, Profit and Cost: Ensures achievement of sales volume and product mix targets by setting appropriate price and margin for sales. Participates on negotiations of key contracts. Manages ongoing SG&A costs.

•Risk Monitor client financial status and reports any changes regarding risk to relevant internal partner teams. Identify and manage potential risks relating to contract agreements across customers/channel.


•Screening: Ensure quality screening of Projects and customers and provide meaningful inputs to HUB

•Administration Manages the sales support and administrative procedures within the sales process.

•Pre-Sales / Business Development /Marketing: Proactively Visit Customers and attend Marketing Events to present the ABB Automation & Electrification Portfolio

Your background

•Graduate in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Control / Instrumentation), with 5+ years of experience in automation business in Middle East

•Good knowledge and understanding of leading control systems used for industrial application especially for power and water plants is prerequisite. Knowledge of ABB’s automation products and solution and the market landscape in terms of products / solutions and strategies being offered would be advantageous

•Good understanding of Automation (Solution) business and capability to improve and drive business to the next level.

•Strong customer focus and result-oriented and Proven leadership capabilities and ability to work across reporting lines

•Fluent in written and spoken English and reasonable understanding or Arabic and Good cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills
