You as a MEP Design Coordinator will be a part of the Power Grids division which is a global leader in turnkey power projects and will be based in Dubai, UAE. The Power Grids division delivers solutions across the power value chain. This includes system solutions for power generation, transmission technologies, substations and distribution technologies for network management.

You will coordinate MEP engineering activities across several projects within the entire value chain efficiently, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Your responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:-

(1). Project technical activities
a. Accountable for timely execution of MEP activities as per the project requirements, approved drawings, client specification & local authorities.
b. Coordinate with MEP contractors, consultant and client during design stage & ensure the progress as per project schedule.
c. Plan and coordinate with Project Manager all the MEP installation, testing, FAT & commissioning activities.
d. Ensure & check the MEP inputs for civil design activity are provided on time.
e. Represents liaise with ABB project team & coordinate the MEP works with other electrical & civil activities.
f. Reviewing the design drawings & material submittal.

(2). Sales support
a. Establish & float RFQ package for MEP activities during tender stage & project execution.
b. Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).

(3). Contract management
Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.). Provides quality solutions as per customer requirement and delivers within budget and contract. Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigates potential risks.

(4). Planning and control
a. Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility
b. Reviews and approves scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost.
c. Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.

(5). Customer
a. Liaise with the client / consultant for all the MEP activities.
b. Follow up with the client / consultant for the documents approval.
c. Verify & certify the monthly progress certificate with MEP site engineer.
d. Attend meetings with client / consultant & follow up the agreed actions on time.
e. Works with the customer to shape and deliver solutions and seeks customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.

(6). Supply chain management
a. Follow up with the contractors for material approvals in a timely manner.
b. Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers
c. Provides technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.

(7). Processes and tools
a. Reviews, develops and documents quality standards, processes, tools and techniques.
b. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
c. Contributes towards continuous improvements of processes and tools for engineering efficiency.

(8). People leadership and development
Supervise & manage ABB MEP site Engineers

Your background

Ideally you should have a Bachelor Degree in engineering with 8 years of experience in a similar industry along with experience with projects of different size, complexity and contractual types preferred.Familiarity with DEWA/ Transco/ADDC/AADC / FEWA specifications is essential.
