Tasks:

Mission

Functional HSE/SA leadership for Country as part of Region Center of Expertise (CoE) supporting Country Managing Director’s (CMD) assurance and governance role for implementation of ABB HSE/SA Policy, Strategy, Programs, Initiatives and Plans. Provides CoE services to BUs and Functional Areas in accordance with HSE/SA model and annual plan. Management, development and budgeting of direct staff. Works collaboratively with Region, BUs and functional teams to assure effectiveness and efficiently of HSE/SA service delivery. Role model of living ABB Value Pairs. Leader, influencer, business savvy.

Main Accountabilities

1. Governance and organization: Contributes to maintaining CoE shared services within a Country to deliver and deploy training, audit and Group-wide performance improvement programs to the Divisions and Local Business Units in alignment with Regional plan, agreed CoE support and Group standards. Core Member of Country SA/HSE Board.
2. Metrics: Consolidates data from the incident database and reports to the CoE Manager and relevant Country Managing Director (CMD) and relevant stakeholders. Signals evolving issues and resource needs within the Country. Reports on progress re implementation of Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Region CoE Manager and CMD.
3. Regulatory compliance: Tracks and assesses Country emerging trends and legislation and communicates relevant information on local legal requirements. Contributes to ensuring that Country operates in compliance with standards and respective legal obligations.
4. Risk management: Contributes to effective risk management of HSE and Human Rights related issues by providing specialist knowledge and advice to the business and in- Country SA/HSE Board.
5. Communication and engagement: Cooperates across functions and with business partners to raise awareness and drive performance, engages with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility for the Country and CoE.
6. Operational Support: Drives behavioral change to continuously improve performance through coordinated Group-wide programs and initiatives. Supports the sharing of best practices, and applies Group standardized processes to deliver consistent support within the respective organization. Ensures capability is built through training.
7. Budget: Participates in defining annual budget for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints.
8. Project management: Contributes to and/or plans and executes projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.
9. People leadership and development: Ensures area of responsibility is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct/indirect subordinates within HR policies. Effects people decisions in the function’s scope of activities in cooperation within the respective organization.

Requirements:

- 15-20 years including Senior HSE Corporate or Division and multi functional HSE/SA with manufacturing/factory, project and service experience;
- B.S. HSE, Sciences, Engineering, relevant discipline; Master’s degree a plus;
- 20-30% travel;
- Expert Fluency in English mandatory and French highly desirable.
