Our Industrial Automation Division is looking for a Project Lead Engineer for the Control Technologies Business Unit, located in Sesto San Giovanni. In this role you will ensure that activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are efficiently and cost-effectively executed, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.


Your main responsibilities: You will ensure that engineering is developed with complete information and that all multidisciplinary information has been included in the engineering development and you will leads development of new solutions for complex projects and challenges. You will drive completion of all engineering activities on the project. You will act as a design authority for engineering deliverables in all applicable engineering disciplines. You may act as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and complete engineering assignments for that discipline and you will coordinate design with consortium partners and/or sub suppliers. You will collaborate on project installation, commissioning and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. You will provide technical support to commissioning and start-up activities. You will create engineering proposals for projects/programs, including coordination with other business units, consortium partners and/or sub suppliers and coordinate overall engineering risk analysis with all partners before submitting proposal. You will evaluate risks and opportunities, strategizes mitigation of one’s management engineering projects/programs. You will support the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments, and implementation of resulting actions and identify opportunities for repeating and new businesses. You will work with customers at senior levels to shape and seeking feedback and innovating with the customer to deliver solutions, drive and deliver improvements and attend project meetings and presents all technical aspects of project assignments. You will interact with officials, contractors, suppliers and others.You will oversee the creation of subcontracts and manages the subcontractors jointly with other involved disciplines, including supply chain management. You will negotiate claims and engineering changes. You will expand one’s network of engineering colleagues within ABB and externally and gather and share best practice across different projects and disciplines. You will provide technical advice to senior management, especially in unique or highly complex proposal opportunities. You will review and develop standard processes, tools and techniques. You will ensure that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.


Preferably you have Automation, Electric, Electronic and/or Information Technologies engineering related education or the equivalent. You have a strong design capability and experience in the engineering discipline of process and discrete automation and proven Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) design experience or proven knowledge of production organization and planning. You have High Technical experience required in PLCs, DCS, industrial IT, network architecture and industrial communication protocols. Some experience in Food and Beverage, Fine Chemical o Pharma sector will be considered as a plus. A good knowledge of English, MS office, ERP management software is required. You are a dynamic person with good coordination skills and team-working attitude.
