Tasks:

The M&A function helps to drive ABB’s continuing profitable growth via ensuring that acquisitions, joint ventures and divestments are successfully executed with maximum speed, quality and value. The M&A-function should be seen as a key resource in the introduction and development of talent across the ABB Group

•Interact constructively with ABB business and country teams when assessing M&A targets and preparing for divestments.
•Coordinate internal and external resources during the execution of M&A transactions.
•Interact with teams on the opposing side of a deal (sellers, buyers, JV partners, their advisers, etc.) constructively while preserving ABB’s interests.
•Lead GF-MA analysts and trainees.
•Responsible for specific project tasks/activities within large transactions (up to several billion $), incl. target assessment and valuation (including synergy calculation) and coordination of due diligence.
•Lead smaller transactions (up to 20 million $) from initial assessment through execution to closing.
•Conduct assessments of M&A opportunities.
•Support the planning, execution and completion of M&A transactions with focus on value, risks, quality and timing.
•Contribute to sound decision making process through detailed knowledge and experience of corporate finance models and business analysis/modeling.
•Be the main support to the M&A project manager on large M&A transactions by leading and executing specific project activities autonomously (e.g. coordination of due diligence work-streams).
•Take lead role in executing smaller M&A transactions.
•Coordinate internal and external resources in the various competence areas necessary in a global transaction (e.g. business plan development, strategic and financial analysis, determination of synergies, valuation, balance sheet management, due diligence, accounting principles, pensions, environmental and contractual issues).
•Supervise and foster GF-MA analysts by following-up on tasks and transferring know-how and skills.
•Preparation of presentations and reports to senior Management.
•Develop and improve ABB’s processes and tools for best M&A practices.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:
•MBA/ MSc in Business Administration and/ or Engineering and 3 years’ experience in Mergers and Acquisitions OR Finance within a corporation, investment bank or private equity company.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Demonstrated M&A project execution experience including financial modeling, due diligence management, negotiations and closing.
•Strong leadership skills with a team-oriented approach.
•Self-starter and ability to work in a fast paced and matrixed environment.
•Excellent strategic, analytical and executive communication skills
•Fluent written and spoken English.
•Global work experience and understanding of different cultures.
•Additional languages are an asset. Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
