Subcontract Substation or Construction Specialist

ABB is seeking a Subcontract Substation or Construction Specialist for its Raleigh, North Carolina location. You’ll work as part of our Power Grids team, which serves utility, industrial, and commercial customers with products and services to help distribute electricity efficiently and reliably, maintain power quality, and control and manage electrical networks.

Tasks:

Typical duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Be a member of a supply management team with responsibility for equipment, subcontract and services procurement, supplier quality and performance supporting ABB’s Grid Integration business for North America. ABB Grid Integration includes our project oriented High Voltage Direct Current, Flexible AC Transmission and Systems Integration business and operates in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

• Develop and deliver Project specific Subcontracting strategy.

• Preparing and issuing Requests for Proposal in support of proposals and projects requirements.

• Reviewing and leading the evaluation of Subcontractor proposals.

• Negotiate agreements to obtain best terms and conditions for the Company. Issue orders and supplements in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Ensuring subcontract compliance with public law and ABB company policy and procedures.

• Collaborate with local and global category managers.

• Coordinate with GBS (Global Business Services) supplier qualification and development requirements.

• Develop long-term continuous improvement programs in conjunction with suppliers, vendors and transportation groups. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding introduction of advanced technologies and related measures to achieve operating efficiencies.

• Requires strong analytical skills, and a general understanding of complex specifications, contract law, commercial terms, standard procurement procedures and related Company policies.

• Requires thorough knowledge of application of supply management and transportation tools and quality processes.

Requirements:

Basic Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain.

OR;

• Master's Degree and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Supply Chain.

Ideally the role could be filled at a more senior level

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Supply Chain.

OR;

• Master's Degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in Supply Chain.

• Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.

Preferred Qualification:

• Master's degree is a plus

• Degree in Supply Chain is a plus.
