ABB is seeking a GBS Accounting Manager for its Cary, North Carolina location. This role is responsible for driving the GBS Finance front office accounting operations incorporating Group standards and best practices. Ensure continuous process improvement via understanding of key metrics in accounting and reporting processes to offer cost-efficient, accuracy in the financials, standardization of processes and competitive services to the business. Enforces Lean concept in the accounting function in the US locations.


Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Enforces ABB Group Accounting Standards, compliance with ABB’s Accounting and Reporting Guidelines, local GAAP and Internal Control over Financial Reporting with ABB Group Charter
• Oversees financial reporting activities acting as liaison person in the business
• Support budget preparation and control in the GBS Front Office organization
• Drives harmonization and standardization in the US entities in line with Group solutions and best practices and assists the development of global solutions
• Updates business leaders on key metrics and action plans that impact their environment and assist as needed with special projects to drive business productivity
• Arranges and drives internal business review meetings and tracks action plans reinforcing guidance on accounting requirements
• Focus the transition of the accounting transactional activities to GBS HUB
• Support KPI development and achievement in the GBS Front Office
• Drives cross-functional accounting projects seeking standardization and accuracy in the US entities working on problem-solving based on six sigma/lean principles
• Leads GBS accounting front office personnel in understanding existing accounting deficiencies and possible improvements


Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance and a minimum of 8 years of experience in Accounting within a Shared Service environment
• CPA or CMA required
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in Accounting/Finance capacity
• SAP and/or Oracle experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience with cross functional projects as a result of a new operating model or acquisition
• Exceptional analytical, communication and leadership skills
• Strong understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodology
• Be able to work in a fast pace environment, with different cultures and multi-task assignments
