You will be a part of HVDC, High Voltage Direct Current, within the Power Grids division in Ludvika. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60+ years and is used to transmit power through long distances at minimal loss, using overhead lines, land and sea cable systems.

Uppgifter :

You will perform the work at HVDC Service, a part of HVDC delivering upgrades, refurbishment and service to the numerous HVDC installations in the world. The topic of the thesis will be within the area of Maintenance Engineering and questions to be answered are for instance “How do we in a structured way make sure that the right tools for maintenance are available when they are needed?” and “How do we already from the design phase ensure that the doors to a specific building are wide and high enough for entrance during a service activity years after the guarantee has come to an end?”.

We are looking for ways of implement new Maintenance Engineering thinking in our organization and to define a process covering the phases from tendering, via project execution to service commitments. As thesis worker(s) you are expected to take plan in the detailed planning of the project and hereby have large possibilities to influence the direction and contents of the final result.


We are looking for two Master students with background in Maintenance Engineering. Experience from the same area is a plus.
Period: To be discussed, but as soon as possible.
Number of credits: 30 ECTS
Number of students: 2, working together
The work will be done mainly in our office in Ludvika. Practical details to be discussed.
