You will be manager of the Global HVDC Service and based in Sweden. HVDC is a product group unit within ABB’s Power Grids division. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. This ABB developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems. We are now looking for a business oriented manager that can drive the global service business for HVDC installed base.

Your responsibilities

As a global manager for HVDC Service you will report to the Global Head of Product Group HVDC. You will have many opportunities and interesting challenges on both a global and local level with full Profit and Loss responsibility for the service business. The accountability for growth at a competitive level with high cost efficiency and operational excellence is a central part of the position. This managerial role will also provide you the overall responsibility for all full-scale operative functions where you will be in charge of both Global and local strategies and our business development.

Within the role, development of and implementing of budgets and targets is essential. In your role you will drive the end-to-end service scope (design through delivery), influence and consult with senior management across Divisions/Regions/other functions to innovatively shape the design and development of the Service unit. You will lead projects of significant organization profile in own field of expertise and solve critical functional questions/problems across a demanding and broad environment. A key task is also to manage the installed base and the warranty portfolio from the executed greenfield business in HVDC.

A crucial task will be to observe relevant markets based on analyses and evaluations of market potentials. Another important task is to execute projects according to agreed targets in terms of schedule, quality, financial results and customer satisfaction. You will have to build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
An important task for you will be to ensure that the area of your responsibility is organized, staffed, skilled and directed. You will guide, motivate and develop direct/indirect subordinates within HR policies, and also effect people decisions in the function’s scope of activities in cooperation with Division and Global Markets organizations.

Your background

To succeed in the role, you hold a university degree within engineering combined with at least 5-10 years of previous leadership experience. It is considered a plus if you have previous leadership experience from a profit and loss as well as a service unit. As you will be responsible for business strategies you should have a longer-term and clear focus on developing the company's goals and plans. You know how to market your unit’s needed investments, as well as propose new ideas to serve our customers profitably. Moreover, you are responsive and good at networking as well as comfortable with making crucial decisions. You should have ability to motivate people and willingness to work with different personalities and cultures. Fluency in English is mandatory, written and spoken alike.

As a leader you should be coaching and have a flexible and innovative mindset. Your ability to set clear targets, follow up and achieve results are important skills. Moreover, you have a strong analytical and systemic problem-solving skills, a good understanding and ability to work with customers and suppliers from different cultures.
