Easy to use architecture
The integrated architecture and plug and play design of ABB Ability™ reduces wiring and connection time while simplifying the integration of other system devices. In fact, it can reduce the number of hardware components by 60%. No complex configurations, multiple DIN-rail adapters or gateways are necessary. Using the Ekip Com Hub, connecting the EDCS to the cloud is quick. And Ekip Connect Software provides a wizard that can set up the system within minutes
ABB Ability Electrical Distribution Control System enables the collection of relevant information from the ABB devices installed in the low-voltage power distribution system. These devices can be connected, plug & play, to the cloud-computing platform by sharing data either with Emax 2, Ekip UP and TruONE™ (equipped with Ekip Com Hub) or with Ekip E- Hub (coming 2019) via Modbus RS-485 or Modbus TCP.
The cloud-based connectivity of ABB Ability™ simplifies coordination of the EDCS with other ABB devices, including Emax 2 and TruONE® ATS, ensuring one common user interface and one common software environment.
Embedded solution with Ekip Com Hub
Emax 2 equipped with the new Ekip Com Hub establishes the cloud connection for the whole switchboard.
This dedicated cartridge-type communication module just needs to be inserted into the terminal box and connected to the internet.
External solution with Ekip E-Hub (coming 2019)
The Ekip E-Hub module can be mounted on DIN rail to collect data throughout the system. Moreover, it is possible to connect sensors for environmental parameters (temperature, water, gas) via both analog and digital I/O. Modules for Wi-Fi or GPRS connection are provided as optional features.
Upgrade solution with Ekip UP
Ekip UP equipped with Ekip Com Hub establishes the cloud connection for a specific feeding line, load or even for the whole distribution system. This dedicated cartridge type communication module just needs to be inserted into the terminal box and connected to the internet using an external router.
