ABB introduces push-in cable gland to speed installation times

The NPG Quick-Connect™ saves time and offers high ingress protection

ABB’s latest cable gland offering, the NPG Quick-Connect™, allows for the fast and effective installation of cable into a box or panel without access to the inside of the enclosure, greatly speeding the process.

Thanks to its built-in nylon locking mechanism, the Quick-Connect offers an easy three-step process: Simply plug the gland into a properly sized box hole until it clicks, insert the cable and tighten. No nuts or separate parts are required.

The speed and ease of installation makes the NPG Quick-Connect an ideal candidate for panel builders and volume installers, as the ease of installation comes with no reduction in performance.

The glands conform to UL514B / CSA C22.2 No. 18.3; EN 62444.

Quick-Connect is a single-piece, corrosion-resistant nylon cable gland suitable for non-armored, portable and tray cable types. When installed, Quick-Connect can achieve ingress protection of IP66 or IP68. Under normal use, NPG Quick-Connect glands are rated to perform from -20° C to 100° C ( -4° F to 212° F), but in shorter periods can withstand -30° C to 150° C ( -22° F to 302° F).

The product is available through distributors worldwide.

“The ease of installation alone makes Quick-Connect an ideal product for OEMs and panel builders, and for anyone in the field who works with electrical enclosures. Combined with its high performance characteristics, and I think most installers will agree that it offers a valuable set of advantages,” said Ricardo Portillo, ABB global product manager for flexible metallic conduit systems and cable glands.
