In the last five years, the PMA manufacturing site in Uster, Switzerland has reduced its overall carbon food print by up to 18,5% versus 2019 baseline.

PMA® EcoGuard™ sustainable cable protection

Enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future. Ideal for machine building, installation and construction industries, and made from 50% recycled raw material, PMA® EcoGuard™ is our commitment to sustainable solutions for the industry. PMA® EcoGuard™ products are employed for maximum protection of the installation’s cable connections under rigorous conditions.

Waste Recycling to give them a new live

Working with local partners, ABB PMA is aiming to achieve a Zero-Waste-to-Landfill by 2025. By partnering with local recycling facilities, we divert materials away from disposal sites and give them a new life. From plastics and paper to wood waste and metal, we’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint.​

Energy and production

Air compressor system to save more than 50'000 kWh

Our innovative air compression system is going to save more than 50’000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. The recovered heat is going to be repurposed for various applications, such as heating water or space within our facilities. This translates to a potential of avoiding 22 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions annually, corresponding 100’000 km driven by an average gasoline-powered passenger vehicle.

100% electricity from certified renewable sources​

Energize responsibly with our 100% renewable electricity!​ At PMA, we’re proud to announce that all our electricity comes from renewable sources. Specifically, we harness the power of hydroelectricity, tapping into the natural flow of rivers and streams to generate clean energy.

Installation of PV panels on our PMA production side

These panels have been soaking up sunlight, converting it into energy, and making a positive impact ever since.​ On average, these panels produce an impressive 50-60 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity each year. That’s equivalent to powering over 4 homes for an entire year!​ Our PV panels are seamlessly integrated into the grid and contribute to the local energy supply, supporting a cleaner grid.​ Since 2011, our solar panels have saved a whopping 327 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions. ​

Transportation and packaging

The PMA Company carfleet goes 100% electric

A significant portion of our company car fleet has made the switch to electric vehicles. In 2026 our fleet will be 100% electric. Our electric vehicles have traveled 90,000 kilometers—that’s equivalent to circling the Earth approximately 2.1 times! During this journey, we’ve saved a substantial amount of CO2 emissions compared to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. ​

Recycled packaging material with 70% recycled content

At ABB PMA, we are commited to responsible packaging, essential for both, our business and the environment. Cardboard is not only renewable but also highly recyclable. All our cardboard boxes contain 70% recycled content. This means that a significant portion of the materials used to create our packaging has already been given a second life.
