Keeping afloat (Colombia)

Founded in 1986, Columbian manufacturer of floating pump systems, ETEC, is among the leaders in its field. With nearly 300 employees, ETECs drive is innovation and new technologies. To manage its 60’’ floating pumps, used to circulate water in a large-size aquaculture project, ETEC requested reliability and an easy-to-use solution. ABB answered.

Integrates efficiency in heavy-duty crushers (China)

China based Tianjin Qihaixin Electric Company is a system integrator targeting the water and cement segments. For a recent project, Tianjin Qihaixin delivered equipment for a cement project in the Yunnan province of china. Crusers, roots blowers and conveyor belts united made up a product capacity of over 5 tons per day. And it was crucial that the equipment had sufficient motor control equipment. In order to secure consistent performance and reliability in its equipment, Tianjin Qihaixin consulted ABB.

Taming the Baltic Sea (Russia)

ZAO VIV and A-Trade LTD, are manufacturers of automation equipment, with key products being automation cabinets and distribution boards for the water and wastewater industry. For a recent project ZAO VIV and A-Trade specified 12 PST softstarters to manage pumps inside the Botoport: a dam complex designed to protect the town of St. Petersburg from floodings. By choosing ABB’s softstarters ZAO VIV and A-Trade have managed to reduce costs due to mechanical wear with up to 30%.

Gaining a deeper understanding (Australia)

Australia based Total Marine Technology (TMT) designs and builds vehicles for subsea oil and gas exploration. Its stateof-the-art Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) often perform work at depths of over 1,500 meters. In 2010, TMT landed a five-year, $30 million contract with another Australian company. For this specific project, TMT needed to design and build a ROV that could reach depths of over 3,000 meters. For such a task and in order to reach the required depths, only the best in motor starting and electrical equipment would be good enough. When asking for the market’s best choice, the answer spelled ABB.

Rhoss is an Italian specialist in air conditioning and air handling products and systems. For over 40 years, it has been synonymous with quality, innovation and top level service. In a recent project, where high inrush currents caused problems to the scroll compressors used to compress air, Rhoss contacted ABB for a more sustainable motor starting solution.

Keeping its cool (Russia)

Rostov-on-Don city in Russia is experiencing a transformation into a Southern industrial hub. Rospromavtomatika, a panel builder, operates in this area and has to try to keep pace with expansions in the industrial sector. In a recent project, targeting the metallurgical industry, Rospromavtomatika needed to supply a reliable starting solution for a recycling system. High temperatures, dust and moist are common problems in these type of environments

Efficiently stopping pumps (China)

The pumping industry in China is booming in parallel with its country’s rapid expansion rate. The industry experienced annual growths of over 20 percent during the mid 2000’s. Infrastructure, industries, transport and big projects are driving the business and Yantai Guhe plays its part by providing pump control panels to one of China’s leading pump manufacturers.

Wuxi Xinle improves installation efficiency

Wuxi Xinle Electric Co. Ltd. is an Chinese OEM manufacturing automation control equipment for the food processing industry. With 150 employees, focus lies on providing high-performing, modern and intuitive solutions. When Wuxi Xinle needed to provide a flour production line with automation equipment, they contacted ABB in an attempt to become more competitive.

Shredding tires – cutting downtime (USA)

When crushing metal, shredding tires and granulating wood is your business, reliable machinery and electrical equipment is essential. If the shredding teeth designed to cut through used-up tires jam, overheating, which is costly and potentially dangerous, soon becomes a problem. Granutech Saturn Systems, Texas, USA is a well-known manufacturer of shredding, granulating and crushing machines.

Creating a cleaner tomorrow (China)

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a clean-burning fossil fuel substitute for conventional fuels like petrol or diesel, fit for a 21st century’s green approach. Widely considered a more environmentally-friendly alternative, it is also much safer in the events of a spill. Aspro TIS (Beijing) Co. Ltd. manufactures high-tech CNG compression systems that turn the natural gas, drawn mainly from underground wells, into a compressed gas, energy-dense enough to provide adequate driving range for busses, trucks or cars.

Xylem is a company that specializes in water solutions for the global water segment. However, one branch in South Africa sells a majority of its production to the mining industry as the equipment is built to pump water out of mines to prevent them from being flooded. Xylem’s solutions are used in many different parts of the mines and Xylem is always looking for simple and robust equipment to implement into their panels.
