The Main Distribution Board (MDB) houses the main circuit breaker that distributes power to all sub‑panels within a building. As the primary entry point for both the utility supply and the generator source, the MDB is a critical node in any electrical installation.
 
By connecting TruCONTROL2.0 to the incoming supply circuit breakers, it is possible to create a fully functional Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) directly at the MDB level. Can TruCONTROL2.0 work with both breakers and change-over switches?

Yes. TruCONTROL2.0 can work with breakers and change-over switches but has dedicated variants for both. The types are identified in the product code with "2A" for change-over switches (OXBCO2A) and "2B" for breakers (OXBCO2B).

Is TruCONTROL 2.0 mainly intended as an upgrade solution for existing switching devices, such as older circuit breakers?

Although TruCONTROL2.0 can be used with existing circuit breakers, it also has opportunities with new projects. It's main purpose is to build an automatic transfer switch (ATS) where the dedicated controller senses the voltage drop on the mains line and switches to the backup power, especially for critical loads making sure the loads keep running.
Additionally, TruCONTROL2.0 offers the possibility to view, monitor and control all the ATS functions in one unit.

What is the difference between the controller HMI variants?




DIP switch (only with change-over switches): has a DIP interface that allows limited functionalities, it is the best choice for applications with simple requirements with change-over switches.

 

 

LCD (only with change-over switches): has an LCD interface and wider range of functionalities (such as communication, extendable signaling modules, etc.) it is ideal when you need a built-in display for monitoring and easy control in change over switches application.




 


Touch (only with circuit breakers): has as a touch interface to set parameters and widest range of functionalities (such as connection via Ekip Connect), ideal for advanced applications such as in data centers.

Is TruCONTROL2.0 suitable for closed transition applications?

TruCONTROL2.0 is suitable for closed transition only with 2B (breaker) variant when used with Main-Tie-Main application or 3 CB application.

Can I monitor TruCONTROL2.0 remotely?

Yes, TruCONTROL2.0 can be monitored remotely by using any communication interface offered by the additional Ekip modules. Remote monitoring is supported only by the LCD HMI for change-over switches and Touch HMI for breakers.
TruCONTROL2.0 can also be connected via Ekip Connect using the USB port and programmed and monitored.

Is it possible to have customized ATS sequence with TruControl?

TruCONTROL2.0 has wide range of time delays and parameters that can affect the timing of the ATS sequence, however the sequence steps cannot be changed.

Can TruCONTROL2.0 control non-ABB breakers and switches?

TruCONTROL2.0 is designed for and tested only with ABB breakers and change-over switches.

Is TruCONTROL2.0 certified?

Yes. TruCONTROL2.0 is certified according to IEC60947-6-1 standard for automatic transfer switching.

Will TruControl support in future the setup with 3 power inputs ?

TruCONTROL2.0 can support only 2 power sources. It can manage Main-Main, Main-Gen or Main-Tie-Main applications only at the moment.
