Main benefits

Product range

The InSite energy management system's quality depends on the seamless interaction of its components. The current sensors are at the core, easily mountable in any installation. Despite their size, they deliver top-level performance, fitting on top of modular protection devices to guarantee accurate and effective measurements, making them the most compact sensors on the market.

CMS-10xS8 and CMS-20xS8 series sensors can be mounted on all S800 devices with cage terminals.

Connection technology and Tap-off Unit
Connection technology

- Sensors and smart accessories are connected to SCU100 and SCU200 via a flexible flat cable and easy-to-install connectors, without the need for special tools.
- The InSite flat cable can be easily used outside the switchboard with the INS-TB accessory, which allows the flat cable to be converted to an Ethernet cable.

FAQ

How many current sensors can be connected to a single SCU100 or SCU200?

The SCU100 allows connection via the InSite bus of up to 96 "points," while the SCU200 allows connection of up to 32 “points” where:

  • A current sensor weighs 1 point
  • A DMxx I/O module weighs 4 points
  • An INS-S/H smart contact weighs 1 point

Are current sensors only compatible with ABB devices?

No, mounting versions are available for universal use, allowing the mounting of current sensors through cable tie (CA type) and on DIN-rail (DR type) for the retrofit of existing installations.

What is the maximum current measured by current sensors?

The maximum current measured depends on the type of current sensors: open-core sensors allow measurement up to 80A (CMS-12x type), while solid-core sensors allow measurement up to 160A (CMS-10x and CMS-20x types). In the case of higher current to be measured, indirect energy meters and network analyzers should be used, available to be integrated into SCU100 or SCU200.

What is the maximum width of cables that can be inserted into current sensors?

The maximum diameters of cable insertion inside the current sensors changes depending on the type of sensor, see below:

  • CMS-10x: 10 mm
  • CMS-20x: 15 mm
  • CMS-12x: 9.7 mm
