InGRID is a smart grid online demonstration system, which showcases ABB’s solutions for more efficient grid management. This can take place anywhere in the world, as there are high-definition (HD) web cameras that provide a visual overview of the detailed interaction between primary equipment and different intelligent control cabinets.
With the help of this system, you can remotely control a smart compact secondary substation (CSS) and its ring main unit (indoor solution), using an iPad or laptop, with access to the Human-Machine Interface (HMI). It is also possible to remotely control the outdoor apparatus: OVR3 recloser, Sectos load break switch and NPS disconnectors (outdoor solutions). You can simulate over-current and earth faults on the overhead lines. InGRID’s complete smart grid demonstration also provides the status of events through the SCADA application.
The control cabinet in the grid automation solutions is the heart of smart grids and also constitutes the brain of InGRID. These solutions fit both existing installations as well as new installations of primary equipment, indoors and outdoors.
When you control the equipment, there are LEDs that light up in different colors. This helps you visualize the presence of voltage on the power lines. The lights are off, when the overhead lines are not powered, and light up in green, when they are. The lights will turn on and off depending on the position of the breakers and disconnectors in accordance with the simulated power flows. If red LEDs light up, you have a fault situation at hand.
