EU MEPS

EU MEPS (European Minimum Energy Performance Standard) sets mandatory minimum efficiency levels for electric motors introduced into the European markets.

The third and final stage of EU MEPS - in force from January 1, 2017 - makes IE3 the minimum efficiency class for most single speed three-phase induction motors that are used direct online. IE2 motors can still be introduced to the market but they must be used with a VSD (variable speed drive).

With a full range of efficient and reliable motors, supported by the global ABB service network, customers can ensure they comply with EU MEPS while cutting energy consumption, reducing costs, and optimizing their cost of motor ownership.
