- ABB India’s Motion Services team won the coveted Acrex Award of Excellence – 2023 in the innovation category for its ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain solution
- Announced during the 22nd edition of ACREX India - South Asia's largest Exhibition on HVAC-R, the Acrex Award of Excellence acknowledged the outstanding efforts and products of the participating companies
Acrex 2023, organized with the dual objectives of engineering towards net zero and advancing sustainability objectives of the HVAC sector, brough together over 450 exhibitors, 35,000 visitors and highlighted India's HVAC Industry’s growth and energy saving potential. Announced on the day 1 of the exhibition, the Acrex Award of Excellence - 2023 named ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain as the winner in the innovation category.
“We are extremely delighted to receive this acknowledgement and would like to thank Acrex India for recognizing the potential benefits of ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain solution. Our powertrain solution is the foundation of Motion business’ digital offerings and optimizes the performance and efficiency of rotating equipments. It provides full transparency on key parameters for drives, motors and pumps,” said Amit Gupta, President, Motion Service, ABB India. “Data gathered from drives’ inbuilt sensors together with the ABB Ability™ Smart Sensors fitted to motors & pumps, can be aggregated, stored and further accessed via the cloud. The capability to gather and analyze this data can reveal information on the status and condition of equipments which can provide timely information to plan service activities,” added Amit.
Since its global launch in the Hannover Messe trade fair, the ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain solution has gained ground across markets and segments by providing data driven insights to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. With the acceleration in digital transformation since the pandemic, offerings such as the ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain are well poised to play a key role in optimizing performance & energy efficiency.
Around 30% of the world's energy is consumed by buildings. HVAC use around 50% of the energy consumed in buildings, and in large commercial buildings the equipment used to move people, like escalators and elevators, can account for 2-5% of the building’s energy use. Thus, it is crucial to enhance these systems' energy efficiency.
Leveraging Condition Monitoring Services for Powertrains, facility managers can receive real-time reports on energy usage and the functionality of the equipment used in the HVAC, water supply, and other building systems. This information offers better insight into how a facility operates and can be used to determine which components of a system use the most energy so that they can be improved first.
By improved maintenance, the digital powertrain makes buildings more energy efficient. Continuous condition monitoring eliminates the need for ongoing manual inspections as building maintenance data is gathered in a cloud service and readily accessible, thus reducing the demand on service.
ABB’s HVAC solutions help to regulate the temperature, humidity, and fresh air flow in buildings that enhance the quality of life.
