Corporate Knights magazine released its annual Top Foreign Corporate Citizens list, following an analysis of 206 companies with $1B+ in revenues in Canada. The Top Foreign Corporate Citizens in Canada includes companies that are not headquartered in Canada and have the highest scores on the Corporate Knights Sustainability Rating methodology employed for the 2019 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. The financial performance and longevity analysis of the Global 100 companies against the MSCI All Country World Index supports the mounting case that sustainable corporate performance is consistent with equal or better returns for investors and greater corporate longevity.
Corporate Knights’ “clean revenue” metric, which counts for 50 per cent of each company’s score, measures the percentage of revenues earned from products or services that have environmental, or well-defined social benefits. Refined “peer group” definitions used to score companies were introduced this year and have improved the comparability and precision of the rankings.

Here in Canada, ABB is proud to be building a sustainable future with all the benefits of modern innovation,” says Nathalie Pilon, President, ABB Canada. “We are an organization that is innovating for the long-term with environmentally friendly solutions, be it: creating state-of-the-art solutions for C02-neutral and energy self-sufficient factories of the future, to powering Canada’s largest zero-emission all-electric bus fleets, our value proposition will continue to focus on creating a sustainable value for our stakeholders,” adds Pilon.
“ABB is at the heart of the solutions economy, making things run better for people and the planet,” said Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights Inc.
ABB’s mindfulness and awareness for sustainability considers the design and manufacturing of its products, its customer offering, engagement with suppliers, assessment of risks and opportunities, and how ABB operates in the communities, while striving to ensure the health, safety and security of our employees, contractors and others affected by our activities.
From major partner in the global solar industry to leading the way in sustainable transportation, our intent is to improve the environment and make a lasting impact.
On the Global 100, sectorally, 20 ranked companies are in IT and 17 in the financial sector. With the addition of the consumer discretionary, health care, and industrials sectors, these five sectors make up almost three-quarters of the Global 100 in line with its comparator benchmark.
