Transformer factory in Jefferson City recognized for outstanding customer service

After the May 22, 2011 tornado struck Joplin, Missouri, US, EDEC was challenged to restore power to the Joplin area so the area could rebuild homes, businesses, schools and hospitals. They needed over 350 single phase transformers and 60 three phase transformers, all with an immediate or emergency requirement.

The fact that ABB employees in Jefferson City supported the recovery efforts by working overtime and expediting material, all while managing daily issues, has been greatly appreciated by our Alliance partner.

Steve Shull, manager of Meters and Transformers for Empire District Electric Company (EDEC), has expressed his personal gratitude for all of the extra work and help in assisting the recovery effort provided by the employees in Jefferson City.

As a further token of their appreciation, EDEC presented ABB in Jefferson City with a plaque showing EDEC's appreciation for the outstanding service they had received.

In a letter to employees, Jeff Weingarten, general manager of the ABB facility in Jefferson City, thanks employees for all the extra effort given in 2011 supporting the rebuilding efforts of the EDEC.

"This plaque is a symbol of all the hard work that everyone in the factory should be proud of for many years," said Jeff in his letter to the employees. "As the Joplin reconstruction continues into 2012, your support and excellent service have helped to build a strong customer relationship that will not be soon forgotten."
