ABB i-bus® KNX – the synonym for an intelligent home

ABB i-bus® KNX is based on KNX-technology, which is recognised as the world’s first open standard for managing smart homes. ABB i-bus® KNX solutions meet all user needs and requirements. In addition to modern lighting management systems, such as DALI (Digital Addressable Light Interface) and Philips HUE, the latest ClimaECO solution also provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning management. This, in turn, contributes significantly to the building’s energy efficiency. ClimaECO’s control panel, ABB-tacteo®, is a black or white touch-sensitive glass panel with modern design that enables the user to set the functions of the buttons themselves. It is also possible to use the panel’s built-in card reader and temperature controller.

Tacteo is unique in its configurator, which allows the user to set up the icons and their descriptions as they like. Personalising Tacteo does not affect the price of the product. ClimaECO controllers provide all the parameters to the system, as well as measuring air pressure, temperature, humidity and CO2 levels. The controllers can also be connected to other control systems such as BACnet (Building Automation and Control Networks). Information is exchanged over a single flexible cable that can be installed adjacent to conventional electric cables.

EQmatic QA/S analysers allow for the monitoring of electricity, gas, water and heating costs. Visualisation and computing take place over an integrated web-based user interface. M Bus and Modbus RTU protocols are in use.

Busch-VoiceControl® KNX offers a unique way to manage buildings with voice control systems (Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant). You can decide for yourself which functions to control by voice: switches, light controls, dimmers, thermostats, etc. Up to 99 functions can be controlled, and remote access is cloud-based.

ABB-free@home® wireless devices offer the same functionality as their wired counterparts – only in this case, communication is via a radio signal. The devices are controlled via the same interfaces – a standard web browser or the ABB-free@home App. The features remain the same. Wireless devices are compatible with time programs and with myABBLiving Space over voice commands. ABB-free@home® can be conveniently used with a free mobile app (Android and iOS). For end-users, this means a favourable solution compared to the analogues. The system is easy to integrate with the Welcome M door entry system and uses the same touchscreen to display external cameras. It is also compatible with other ABB devices, such as the secure@home security system, voice control systems and Sonos audio system.

The building’s control, security and access systems are complemented by the AC car charging stations EVLunic and CEWE, whichare designed for charging electric and hybrid vehicles. These are equipped with Type 1 and 2 (Japan and Europe) connectors and can be installed on a stand or surface. Single and three phase electrical cabinets with standard connectors also offer electrical meters and RFID capability.
