Today, platforms or floaters use topside powering installations, which limit the distance from which a platform can be tied from a reservoir (its step-out distance), and require strict personnel and environmental safety procedures. Multiple systems need to be integrated and then operated at the bottom of the sea.
ABB INSUBSEA® solution enable the transmission of up to 100 MW of power via one cable over distances up to 600 kilometers from shore and power equipment at depths of up to 3,000 meters. ABB Ability solutions also provide process controls that communicate with, and automate, the equipment operating on the seabed.

The future of human-plant collaboration
By 2025 we will witness humans working with systems in a collaborative way using the frontiers of artificial intelligence. Disruptive technologies like AI, Machine Learning, AR have all changed the way we do everyday tasks and in some cases made them autonomous. In this session we will demonstrate how hands free collaboration with systems within a plant can help repair remote issues while also predict incidents before they happen – from wherever the operator may be.
This new operating mode builds on extensive domain expertise captured into machine language and hence overcoming the aging workforce challenge. Data, context, intelligence and behaviors are gathered into a central space making the plant-human collaboration possible. Imagine a future where you could have an open dialogue with your plant to quickly and confidently make the very best decision for your operations all while enjoying your favorite sandwich that was just beamed in from your favorite café. The journey to get there has started.
