315 kW solar rooftop

ABB’s Al Quoz facility in Dubai features a 315 kW solar rooftop, one of the largest privately owned solar rooftops in the region.

The electricity it generates is used for powering the ABB office while feeding any surplus power to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) grid.

ABB inverters with IP65 enclosure and fanless design are well suited for solar installations in the Middle East.

The rooftop uses a variety of ABB string inverters to convert current. PVI, Trio and PRO 33 inverters are connected to a state-of-the-art ABB building monitoring system (BMS) and can be monitored remotely.

BMS system

The BMS system controls and monitors the complete solar rooftop system, the i-bus® KNX system (temperature and lighting control) and power management with the Emax2 air circuit breakers.
This enables monitoring of the inverters, meteorological department data, power metering and analysis of the building’s lighting and temperature settings.

Ekip SmartVision

Ekip SmartVision connects the solar rooftop to the Internet of Things, creating a digital profile of the photovoltaic installation. It continuously analyzes the power quality, as well as tracking trends in the site’s energy production and demand. Continuous diagnosis of the rooftop helps maximize the asset’s productivity and makes maintenance more effective and intelligent.
