Yuri Kopchenko appointed ABB Printing Sales Manager for North America

Yuri Kopchenko joined ABB as sales manager for North America on 1st January. He replaces Jeff Gelfand, who has taken a well-earned semi-retirement.

Yuri Kopchenko is well-known in the North American newspaper printing business and brings with him over 30 years’ experience in industrial controls and printing systems.

Previously Yuri operated a private technical services firm, YK Service Solutions, LLC. YK Service Solutions has provided technical services for USA plants equipped with TKS, Goss and Wifag printing presses. Additionally, it provided installation and commissioning support for printing plants in USA and Canada. Yuri will continue to provide such services when his ABB role allows.

Prior to forming YK Service Solutions, Yuri served as Customer Service Director for TKS USA, Inc., where he held responsibility for project planning for the installation of printing press system in the United States.  Under his guidance all nine Wall Street Journal sites were expanded and systems for Atlanta Journal & Constitution, Columbus Dispatch, Frederick News Post Maryland, Fort Wayne Newspapers and Salt Lake City Newspaper Agency were commissioned.

Damian Staedeli, Head of ABB Printing, is delighted that Yuri has joined the ABB team. "We have worked closely with Yuri on several projects in the past and have got to know and respect each other very well. He is a perfect fit for the role and we are convinced that Yuri is the right person to continue ABB Printing’s success in the North American market."
“Yuri’s predecessor, Jeff Gelfand, will not be disappearing completely”, continues Staedeli. “Jeff is not retiring fully and will still be supporting Yuri for some time to ensure a smooth transition.”
