The purpose of the Gunnar Engström ABB foundation is to support scientific research in the field of energy technology by awarding scholarships to researchers in the said field active at one of the Universities in:
- Stockholm (KTH)
- Gothenburg (Chalmers)
- Lund (LU)
- Linköping (LiU)
- Luleå (LTU)
- Uppsala (UU)
The foundation was established in honor of the former director of ASEA, Gunnar Engström in order to stimulate interest in research in the field of energy technology through scholarships.
The Foundation will award one or more scholarships of at least 250 000 SEK
Who are we looking for?
The topic for 2023 applications is "Long-term sustainability in energy technology." The field of energy technology includes areas such as: physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, transport technology, environmental technology and also automation if the purpose of the research is energy-related.
The scholarship can be applied for during, or in close connection with completed doctoral studies
The scholarship will be awarded to a doctoral student project in the field of energy technology at one of the mentioned Swedish Universities.
The scholarship is personal and according to Swedish tax law not taxable for the recipient. The scholarship should be used to promote the fellow's further development in the field of energy technology. One selection criterion is the relevance of the research project to ABB.
The research fellow is appointed by the foundation's board during the month of September.
