Rawson Wind Farm
ABB Argentina was awarded the turn-key project for the engineering, supply and construction of all the electrical scope of the new substation to be built related with the Villalonga Wind Farm, owned by Genneia, one of the leading companies in renewable energy power plants in Argentina. Within this scope, ABB will supply the Protection, Control and Communication systems.
The technology is the state-of-the-art substation automation system based on IEC61850, with panels engineered and mounted in ABB facilities in Valentín Alsina, near Buenos Aires. Communications are based on power line carrier and microwave radio, these with ABB’s multiplexers FOX 615.
With 50 MW this wind farm will be located close to the city of Bahía Blanca, an industrial and petrochemical pole, also linked to Buenos Aires by two 500 kV lines. Villalonga wind farm will provide 50 MW of clean eolic energy, available for the main consuming nodes.
With this award, Genneia relies once more on the expertise of ABB, after the successful experience with Rawson Wind Farm, the largest in Argentina so far (80 MW), for which ABB has also supplied the complete substation equipment as a turn-key project. Rawson provides 49,3% of the eolic energy generated in Argentina.
