The event included a conference and exhibition held at Bangkok, Thailand, from 23rd to 26th October at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, where over 1200 industry leaders were present. The event also saw several key visitors from government and ministry, including H. E Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E General Anantaporn Kanjanarat, Energy Minister of Thailand, Mr. Kornrasit Pakchotanon, Governor of Electricity Authority of Thailand, Mr. Sermsakul Klaikaew, Governor of Provincial Electricity Authority, and CEOs from major utilities including TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) Malaysia, TPC (Taiwan Power Company) Chineese Taipei, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and CEC (China Electricity Council), P.R China.
N Venu, Lead Division Manager for South Asia, Middle East and Africa, was part of a keynote panel that included representation from Siemens, Accenture and GE. His presentation on ‘Big shift in power – shaping the system of the future’ outlined the global challenges faced by the energy industry, and the trends of the evolving grid’. In addition, Prof. Dr. Jochen Kreusel, Head of Sector Initiative for Smart Grids also presented on ‘Smarter grids – the key for integration of renewable energy.’
At the exhibition stall, ABB showcased various offerings including
- YuMi® robot solution, the world’s first truly collaborative robot. YuMi® was specifically designed to help consumer electronics meet these challenges by unlocking innovative new collaborative manufacturing solutions where people and robots safely work together on shared tasks. During the event it was showcased making a coffee for delegates and visitors.
- Electric vehicle charging infrastructure supporting all EV charging standards. The Terra multi-standard DC charging station 53 combines industry standardization with fast charging technology to support all current and next generation vehicles.
- eMobility was also showcased to demonstrate a future solutions and charging systems for electric vehicles in private and public.
- The new TRIO 50.0 inverter is a three-phase string solution for the efficient implementation of decentralized plants in commercial to utility-scale applications, delivering high flexibility in the design of large-scale installations as a result of its modular concept and installation versatility.
- Hybrid Switchgear PASS - The PASS (Plug And Switch System) for Digital Substations is a compact hybrid switchgear fully assembled and high-voltage tested in factory, for rapid installation and energization.
- Innovative High-voltage Gas-insulated Switchgear (GIS) which is ABB’s digital GIS with integrated non-conventional instrument transformers. ABB transformers for Digital Substations are equipped with CoreTec™, with unique features for transformer protection, control, monitoring and diagnostics.
- ABB’s flagship Symphony Plus distributed control system, DCS was also showcased demonstrating how intelligent use of data available in power plants help deliver competitive edge solutions for current and future challenges in the power industry. Being the latest generation of ABB’s highly successful Symphony family of control system, ABB has been recognized by ARC Advisory Group as the global leader in DCS and as the number one positioned supplier of DCS systems in the electric power generation segment. With the introduction of ABB Ability™ platform, the Symphony Plus offerings of digital solutions and services will further enhance the value-driven applications for customers.
On the sidelines of CEPSI, the wide network of customers from across the region was also well leveraged, with an ABB dedicated customer seminar ‘Transformer Day’ that was organized in the same location on the 25th October.
