ABB has delivered a digitally enabled, compact substation to supply reliable power to the Blúport
Hua Hin, the first ever resort mall in Hua Hin and a new landmark that attracts tourists from all over the world.
Blúport Hua Hin Resort Mall, spread across 200,000 square meters is hosting a diverse range of attractions. In addition to unique shopping experiences, here are several theme based experiences. There are over 100 fine dining restaurants; an underwater-themed children’s play area called ‘Whaley Port’, and the premium supermarket, Gourmet Market that meticulously selects all its best produce from all over the world. Electricity is a key requirement to power everything from air-conditioning to movie theatres and special displays. It is operated by Hua Hin Asset Company Limited in collaboration with The Mall Group Company Limited and Proud Real Estate Company Limited.
As part of the solution, ABB has supplied a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation package and associated electrical equipment, including power transformers and medium voltage switchgear. The robust and low maintenance design of the substation minimizes space requirement by as much as 70 percent compared to an outdoor air insulated installation, enabling the substation to be installed indoors where space is limited and safety, efficiency, and reliability are of paramount importance.
An ABB AbilityTM based MicroSCADA Pro (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) power management solution will enable secure, efficient, and optimized operation of the electric power system serving the mall.
“We are delighted to be a part of this thriving resort mall that not only brings pleasure to millions of locals but also supports Thailand’s tourism industry” said Patrick Fragman, head of ABB’s Grid Integration business within the company’s Power Grids division. “This highly compact indoor will save considerable space and ensure availability and reliability of power supply. The project reiterates our commitment to serving the building and infrastructure sector.”
