VTG proves its benefits on Indian locomotives
ABB’s VTG technology passes Indian Rail’s performance and efficiency tests with flying colors
In the face of rising fuel prices and stricter emission regulations, greater demands are being placed on railway application in India today to meet these operational challenges. This has therefore made the need for flexible and reliable solutions even more essential.
ABB’s Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbocharging technology, introduced on Indian Railways (IR) one year ago, strongly supports Indian Railway’s company in its efforts to meet power, fuel and emission targets.
In a recent test bed, VTG proved significant fuel savings of 2.74 percent on IR’s passenger duty cycle and a 2.95 percent fuel savings on the IR’s freight duty cycle.
