Need help preparing? 

Think about your skills and why you are suitable for the role you are applying for. You should also think about your audience. Who will be reading your CV/resume and application cover letter? What will your interviewers be looking for?

You want to persuade them that you are right for the job, so be sure to highlight any relevant experience.
Cover letter
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Your cover letter is one of the first things we look at. It is an opportunity to expand on the bare facts in your CV and to show a bit of your personality. You can also use it to show your understanding of the field you are applying to work in and how you can help us succeed. Remember that we receive large numbers of applications.

Try and establish a clear path through your academic and, if applicable, employment experience. Showcase your achievements and how they link to the job requirements.
  • Use the letter to explain why you want to join our company.
  • Expand on the most relevant points in your CV.
  • Customize your cover letter for different jobs.
  • Give examples of achievements that show how you could help us succeed.
  • Think about your reader: What are they looking for? What are their selection criteria?
  • Stick to the point and be brief – one side of A4 should be enough.
  • Use a clear and simple style.
  • Check grammar and spelling carefully.
  • When reviewing, read your letter out loud to get a fresh perspective.
With your CV, you need to make a good first impression, fast. In general, we advise the following:

Use the CV to give an overview of why you are right for a particular role.
  • Show that you have read and understood the job description.
  • Tailor your skills and experience to the role you are applying for.
  • Use active, high impact language.

Stay relevant and keep concise.

  • Keep the design clean and simple.
  • Remember the CV "hotspots": current and last role, headings and education are where recruiters look first.
  • Limit yourself to two to three pages, if possible.

 Most people include sections on:

  •  Personal details and contact information.
  • Work history and/or experience:
    • Begin with a short paragraph summarizing your current profile and skills, include budget and headcount responsibility where relevant.
    • List current and previous jobs/work experience, most recent first, with one to two sentences summarizing overall role and responsibilities.
    • Use bullet points to highlight specific details that are relevant to the job you are applying to.

  • Education and qualifications (academic and professional where relevant)
  • Relevant skills
  • Personal interests, achievements or hobbies.
  • References: Use previous employers; former teachers or professors if you're applying for your first job.
This is your opportunity to expand on the detail in your CV and cover letter, and to show us why you are right for the job in question. But remember, you should interview us too to see if we are right for you.

  • Carefully research the company in general, and the business area of the role in particular.
  • Think of your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the job you are interviewing for.
  • Use online lists of typical interview questions to prepare. 
  • Collect examples from your work history to show that you have the experience/skill to perform the key tasks specified in the job description. If this is your first job and you do not have specific experience, use examples from areas such as your education, interests, hobbies, and so on.
  • Prepare questions about the role, its tasks and challenges and future development possibilities.

On the day
  • Be punctual and dress professionally.
  • Listen to the question carefully and be to the point when answering it.
  • Provide evidence of your achievements backed up with facts and figures.
  • Be confident and enthusiastic.
  • Interview us: You need to find out if we are right for you.
  • Be honest and truthful.
  • Relax and enjoy yourself.
