Before the advent of on-board computer diagnostics, car owners had to rely on the keen senses and experiences of the driver to detect early warning signs of degrading performance. In a power plant, those early warnings are often buried in data that is currently being captured by the DCS for control purposes, but is not being analyzed for stability or performance degradations. In this early stage of rollout for ABB Ability, we can collect data from the DCS and historian, perform a statistical analysis for a small collection of “Quick KPI’s”, and determine if there are controls issues, tuning issues, or validate that these KPI’s are within acceptable tolerances. Learn what’s in this family of Quick KPI’s, and how some simple analytical techniques can reveal correctable issues, leading to more optimal unit performance and financial return.
