Service Resource Development Program (Cadet Class)

Process Automation - Service

Would you like to explore a field engineering career path with a growing global company?

The ABB Service Resource Development Program is a program established within the Process Automation division. The program consists of two different engineering tracks; the Open Control System (OCS) engineer track and the Quality Control System (QCS) engineer track, each lasting a duration of 3-4 months. The program is designed to prepare talented individuals for a field/residential engineering career path.

Field service technicians/engineers perform a variety of moderately complex semi-technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, test or repair of company products and equipment. They strive to provide solutions and measures that improve operations and customer service.

Program details

The training programs will be conducted at our training facilities located at the Wickliffe, OH office (Cleveland) for OCS or the Westerville office (Columbus) for QCS. The classroom training is conducted by ABB’s corporate training team through Automation University. Additional instruction and mentoring is provided by the Regional Technical Advisors in Process Automation.

ABB will cover the participants' accommodations and related travel expenses for the duration of the program. Depending on a participant's job duties and work location, we may also provide a company car, tools, cell phone, a relocation allowance and expense account.

After the program, a talent review will be conducted between the program manager and respective business unit operations managers. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss their career interests, ambitions as well as provide program feedbacks via a one-on-one meeting with the program manager.

Job placement after the program will be determined based on the participants’ interest and capabilities as well as the business needs at the time. Due to the ever changing needs in the field, locations cannot be determined.
