Jürgen Dormann Foundation (JDF in short) was founded in 2007 by initiative of the former President and CEO, Mr. Jürgen Dormann, aiming to support talented students with limited financial resources. The Foundation supports full year education related expenses at one time and a set of computer to successful applicants in the first year. The scholarship can be extended yearly depending on the assessment of ABB on the student's performance. In addition, scholars will have an opportunity to participate in international conferences in Zurich, ABB Group headquarter, and meet with JDF fellows from other countries. Moreover, scholars will be benefited from guidance and support of local ABB mentors for career orientation during scholarship years.

In Vietnam, JDF program was firstly implemented with the support of HUST.

At the ceremony, the two JDF winners expressed their happiness and thanked ABB for the support. Both shared that the scholarship is a big encouragement to them in terms of spiritual and material life, adding that they would like to become a part of ABB in the future because of its professional working environment and to contribute to the Company's development.

Sharing happiness with the scholarship winners, Mr. Axel Kalt, ABB's General Director, encouraged students who missed the chance this year to continue their momentum and make further effort for better achievement both in education and life. He emphasized that besides the JDF scholarship, ABB also offers other support programs such as Internship Program for fresh graduates, or ABB Graduate Engineer Program particularly for those graduated with major in Electrical or Mechanical. He looks forward to welcoming students in these programs.

At his speech at the event, Dr. Tung, Head of the Youth Union of Electrical School, HUST, thanked ABB in Vietnam for its continued cooperation and support to the university, adding that the scholarships are especially meaningful to students and contribute to the development of the talent engineers in the future. He said there are many aspects that the two organization could cooperate such as joining hands to establish a research center. He hopes that the two organizations will boost cooperation to a more in-depth level in the upcoming time.

A factory tour in PPHV and PPMV factory followed the ceremony and was appreciated by the visiting lecturers and students. This is a great opportunity for students to know more about plant operation with a lot of state-of-art technologies and additionally help "potential engineers" have an insight into their future career.
