During his time in Vietnam, Johan gave priorities to meet with customers. He had a meeting with Dale Smith, Construction Manager of Nui Phao Mining LCC right after he landed off to discuss VNABB's performance in its ever largest order of 24.2 million USD to date. He also met with a representative from EVN to understand more about Vietnam power market and discuss possible cooperation between the two organizations in relation to the performance improvement programme that being developed for Thermal Power Plants in the country.
A part from customer meetings, Johan also put focus of his visit on conducting SOT, visiting factories in Hanoi and Bacninh, and reviewing country business with focus on financials, demand side with PP and PS opportunities. In the remainder of his time, he had a review with HR of succession planning and talent development.
At the end of his visit, Johan shared that ABB safety culture at VNABB is good but we needed to take better care of contractors. There is clear room for improvement and it is important that we do it.
He also shared impressions about enthusiasm and positivity of our employees in Vietnam, adding that it is fantastic and probably better than anywhere else in the region. He urged us to keep it up.
According to Johan, the investments in world class factories are a clear testimony of the importance of Vietnam to ABB. Johan said that it is great to see that these investments are taken care of, being put to great use and delivering solid results.
In addition, Johan said that he likes growth actions to bring our other businesses up to the same level as our power products business and looked forward to seeing the results of these actions. He also likes to see more of our Vietnamese colleagues on short and medium term assignments around the region, as a development opportunity for VN employees but also as bringing more of the culture and best praises of VNABB into the region.
