Industry 4.0

Experts in industrial processes, connectivity, and customer support

We supply one of Industry 4.0’s key technologies by designing, manufacturing, installing, and maintaining connected products. We offer connectivity and integration services with users, predictive maintenance, and performance analysis with in-depth knowledge of plant performance, making multi-site comparisons, analyzing applications based on shifts... Our mobile robots are not only the company's transportation system, moving goods from one place to another, but they are also its “nervous system” due to the information they transmit, collect, and move. All our mobile robots have an on-board PC and several sensors – they are like a walking loT chip, constantly collecting information.

Safety systems

At ABB Robotics, people and safety come first. Our autonomous mobile robots work seamlessly with human workers, manual trucks and other automated systems to perform intralogistics operations safely in industrial environments.

Our AMR products meet the safety applicable regulations according to the current state of the art. Our internal processes ensure full safety assessment, compliance and rigorous validation throughout the product development, manufacturing and deployment phases. Our AMR application experts also ensure that project and deployment-specific safety reviews are carried out, ensuring both safety and productivity for our customers.

Our AMRs are fully safety-equipped:

Our AMRs are equipped with various safety systems to fulfill all the safety functions applicable to ISO 3691-4. To protect people, the AMRs are equipped with one or more safety scanner lasers that automatically switch the safety fields depending on the speed and odometer of the vehicle and the load status.

Main safety systems:
  • Safety laser scanners
  • Safety PLC
  • Safety load detection
  • Emergency stop buttons

Additional safety systems:
  • Acoustic warning
  • LED Visual warning
  • Anticollision scanner
  • Bluespot
  • Bumpers
  • Fork tip sensors
  • Inclinometer

Navigation systems

Precise, reliable, and flexible navigation systems

Our different technologies can be used for vehicle location and navigation throughout the facility’s layout.

Magnetic navigation

The AMR reads the magnetic tape placed on the floor by means of a magnetic antenna.

Laser navigation

Reflectors installed at strategic locations within the plant ensure that, wherever the AMR is on the plant floor, it can detect three reflections of the laser beam that its navigation module emits, allowing the AMR to determine its position with pinpoint accuracy.

QR navigation

The AMR reads the QR codes which are laid out on the floor as a matrix by means of its on-board camera in order to identify both its location and the instructions it needs to follow.

Natural navigation

The system scans the environment to create virtual maps and routes

Dual navigation

A combination of different navigation systems, switching from one mode to the other depending on the AMRs position on the plant floor.

Visual SLAM

A combination of AI and 3D vision that allows AMR to make intelligent decisions based on their surroundings and provides higher accuracy and robustness even in challenging environments.

Battery and charging systems

Our full range of energy systems

Providing an efficient charging strategy and powerful batteries to ensure the autonomy our AMRs need to operate.

Batteries

Lead-acid

Best price/performance ratio.

Li-Ion

High durability, free maintenance, no memory effect, suitable for fast charges

Charging systems

Manual battery interchange

The AMR moves to the battery exchange position when it detects a level of charge below the programmed limit, and the operator carries out the exchange.

Online charging (wired/wireless)

The AMR automatically connects to a charger during periods of inactivity.
