And once the robot’s lifetime has ended, we offer buy-back services, leading to refurbishment, re-use, or recycling of products and components.

Some of our robots have been in use for more than 35 years, thanks to high-quality maintenance.
Extended lifetime

ABB extends the lifetime of robots with data-based services providing actionable intelligence, including Preventive Maintenance, Condition –based maintenance and Connected Services.
Nearly all our robots used in automotive manufacturing get a second life. 10-20% even get a third.

Repairing and maintenance

We offer several planned and recovery services, such as preventive maintenance, repair, spare parts, etc. We offer new, refurbished and repaired spare parts with guaranteed reliability and durability.
Over 35,000 replacement components are available from our global hubs, conveniently located where you need them.
Upgrade and retrofit

We upgrade and retrofit our robots for optimized lifecycles.
Buy back

We buy back and refurbish your old robots, giving them a second life.
60-80% of a robot can be reused. The rest is sent to certified recycling partners.
Remanufacture and refurbish

Refurbishing a robot produces 75% less CO2 than producing a new one.
In the last 25 years, we have remanufactured more than 12,000 robots.
