ABB Field Information Manager Learning Center

For configuration of Loop Check, a number of settings is available depending on the node type.

The default values of all of these settings can be defined in Tools Menu - PROJECTS - LOOP CHECK SETTINGS. In addition, settings imported via from a CSV file via Tools Menu - PROJECTS overwrite the default settings for specified nodes. The preconfigured settings are always applied to all nodes when opening a new Loop Check View.

Within an open Loop Check View, the Loop Check settings can be changed manually per node or for a bulk selection.

General Settings

General settings are available for all node types with connected field devices.

Note:
Available settings might differ depending on the used protocol.
HART has specific settings (like 5-Point Test) while e.g. PROFIBUS PA and PROFINET are covered as "Others" with different settings (like 2-Point Test).

General Settings

Input Node Settings

Input channel settings are only available for input nodes with connected field devices.

Input Node Settings
(1). Only supported for nodes with HART devices.
(2). Please check the technical data of used hardware (e.g. Remote I/O and field device) to ensure correct functionality of the devices. Too low current can lead to device malfunction.
(3). Please check the technical data of used hardware (e.g. Remote I/O and field device) to ensure correct functionality of the devices. Too high current can lead to hardware damages.

Output Channel Settings

Output channel settings are only available for output nodes with connected field devices.

Imported Loop Check Settings

Field Information Manager supports the import of Loop Check Settings from a CSV file via Tools Menu - PROJECTS to overwrite the default settings for specified nodes. Nodes not specified in the imported Loop Check Settings are configured according to Default Loop Check Settings.

The mapping of CSV file content to nodes for Loop Check is specified during import process and can be done in different ways:
  • Based on Device Name: Only supports nodes with connected device.
  • Based on Path and Channel: Supports all nodes, also without connected device.

Loop Check View provides the option to generate a CSV template via EXPORT SETTINGS TEMPLATE which contains all current settings of selected nodes.

The CSV file format depends on the regional settings which is considered during generating and importing a CSV file.

The following columns are available to pre-configure node settings:

Imported Settings 1
Imported Settings 2Imported Settings 3
